
Delhi High Court ruled Monday that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's March 2020 promise to pay rent for those unable to afford it during COVID-19 was not legally enforceable. A bench of Justices C. Hari Shankar and Om Prakash Shukla set aside a 2021 court order directing implementation. The court termed the statement made "on the spur of the moment." Daily wage labourers and a landlord had filed petitions.
