China to resume direct flights and food Imports from Taiwan after KMT leader meets Xi Jinping

What Happened

China announced Sunday it would resume direct flights to additional mainland cities and import Taiwanese aquaculture products following KMT leader Cheng Li-wun's meeting with President Xi Jinping. Flights to Xi'an and Urumqi will restart. Beijing also proposed establishing a formal communication channel between the Communist Party and Taiwan's Kuomintang Party, and revived plans for a bridge connecting mainland China to Taiwanese islands Matsu and Kinmen.
