The Indian government has doubled daily allocation of 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinders, commonly called Chhotu cylinders, to all states and territories. The additional supply targets migrant labourers amid global supply concerns from Middle East tensions. Consumers need only valid identity proof to purchase; address proof is not required. Since March 23, approximately 6.6 lakh cylinders have sold. The government restricted commercial supplies and seized over 50,000 cylinders in anti-hoarding operations.
