What Happened
The Union Cabinet cleared Constitutional amendments for 33% women's reservation in Lok Sabha and state assemblies using 2011 Census data. Lok Sabha seats would increase from 543 to 816, with 273 reserved for women by 2029 elections. A Delimitation Bill was also approved.
