
The government circulated three bills enabling fresh delimitation based on latest Census data and raising Lok Sabha strength from 545 to 850 members. The Constitutional Amendment Bill removes the 1971 Census freeze on seat redistribution. The Delimitation Bill establishes a commission headed by a Supreme Court judge to redraw boundaries and allocate seats. Women's one-third reservation in Parliament and state Assemblies will be operationalized, with seats rotated after each delimitation cycle for fifteen years.
