Polling for all 126 Assam assembly constituencies began Thursday, with 722 candidates competing. The ruling BJP seeks a third consecutive term while Congress aims for power after 2016 defeat. Voting runs from 7 am to 5 pm in a single phase across 31,490 polling stations. An electorate of 2.50 crore, including 1.25 crore women, can vote.
