What Happened

Delhi Government approved construction of a 4.2-kilometer flood protection wall on Ring Road from Majnu Ka Tila to Old Railway Bridge. The wall aims to protect low-lying areas including Civil Lines, Kashmere Gate, and Yamuna Bazaar from Yamuna flooding. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said construction will complete before 2027 monsoon season. The project follows recommendations from August 2024 Joint Flood Committee report. Yamuna reached record water level of 208.66 metres in 2023.
