Amazon to end support for older Kindle devices

What Happened
Amazon will end support for Kindle devices released before 2012 on May 20, 2026. Affected models include original Kindle, Kindle DX, Keyboard, and first-generation Paperwhite. These devices will lose access to the Kindle Store and cannot download new books. Users can still read previously downloaded content. Amazon says these models received support for 14-18 years. The company offers promotions for upgrading to newer devices.
