
Adam Back, a British cryptographer, denied claims by the New York Times that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin's anonymous creator. Back explained his extensive work in cryptography, privacy, and electronic cash research from 1992 onward accounts for similarities to Bitcoin. He stated he does not know Satoshi's identity. Other experts questioned the evidence, citing shared interests among cypherpunks and questioning why Back would use anonymity for Bitcoin but not earlier work.
