
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that 2.49 lakh hectares of agricultural land were affected by recent hailstorms and unseasonal rains across India. He instructed state governments to conduct damage assessments involving three departments: Revenue, Agriculture, and Panchayati Raj. Wheat and horticulture crops suffered maximum damage. The affected area may exceed 3 lakh hectares. Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab experienced the most impact.
