The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ordered Mahindra and Mahindra to replace a defective Scorpio SUV or refund Rs 12.27 lakh. The vehicle, purchased May 13, 2011, developed recurring engine faults months after purchase. The commission found manufacturing defects that couldn't be corrected satisfactorily. The ruling overturned a 2016 state commission decision that awarded only Rs 50,000 compensation.
